iGLASS Networks Chooses Amazon AWS as Secure Cloud Partner
CARY, N.C., Dec. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As part of our commitment to the security and uptime of our NOC Services platform, iGLASS Networks is excited to announce the migration of our core data center infrastructure to Amazon's AWS Virtual Private Cloud.
There were several factors behind our selection of AWS:
-- Security -- High Availability -- Resiliency -- Scalability -- Future Capabilities -- Security
While our legacy data center-based infrastructure has always been very secure, AWS VPC allows us to further enhance our strict security profile. Trusted by thousands of today's top companies, AWS has achieved SOC 1-3, PCI DSS Level 1, and ISO 27001 certifications just to name a few. AWS provides us, and by extension our customers, a secure foundation upon which to operate.
Within the AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) service, all data is encrypted both on the fly and at rest. All connections into the VPC are through our secure IPSEC VPNs. We use the same segmentation strategies within our VPCs that we use in our existing data centers. Any instance with a publicly-accessible IP address is placed in a DMZ separate from our databases and other private instances. We follow the principle of least privilege in the design of our VPC and our implementation of access restrictions. Our stringent password policy is applied to all our AWS accounts and requires the use of Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) within these accounts. Regular vulnerability scans are executed against all our instances in the VPC. And of course, since we are a monitoring company, we also constantly monitor the availability and performance of our AWS infrastructure.
High Availability
Second only to security, the availability of our NOC Services platform is of utmost importance. Our Service Level Agreement (SLA) from AWS is 99.99%, allowing us to offer our customers one of the best uptime experiences available in the market today.
Resiliency
iGLASS currently maintains two data centers in North Carolina, one primary and one disaster recovery (DR). They have provided us with excellent failover capabilities, but lack the geographic diversity we desire. AWS allows us to have a compute environment distributed across numerous data centers and geographic regions.
AWS provides us with the capability to have a greater level of redundancy and resiliency than ever before. Our infrastructure will be hosted in geographically diverse availability zones with multiple redundancies and DR capabilities. By leveraging AWS capabilities, iGLASS will offer an unmatched level of resiliency.
Scalability
AWS allows us to easily add servers, disks, memory, backups and other virtual infrastructure as our customers' needs evolve and grow. With capabilities like elastic load balancing, we'll be able to improve platform performance going forward. In addition, AWS also offers management tools that make it easier for our engineers to administer and manage our infrastructure.
Future Capabilities
Migrating to AWS will enable us to offer additional data retention and other capabilities to our valued customers. For example, we'll soon be offering a 6x increase in polling data retention for enhanced post-mortem outage analysis and trending purposes. For customers desiring longer data retention periods, we'll be able to easily accommodate that without needing to purchase or replace additional hardware. In addition, iGLASS will once again offer NetFlow monitoring and reporting at greatly reduced rates compared to prior offerings. These are just two examples of the enhancements we anticipate offering in the immediate future.
