Quality Uptime Presents The 'Most Extreme Data Center on The Planet' Award at 2018 DCD Awards Gala

BETHEL, Conn., Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Quality Uptime Services, a leading provider of UPS and battery preventive maintenance services, announced today that HPE's Spaceborne Computer is the winner of the 'World's Most Extreme Data Center on the Planet' award. The award was presented last week by Quality Uptime Services Vice President Frank Monticelli at the 2018 Datacenter Dynamics Awards Gala in London, England.

"We were honored to present the 'World's Most Extreme Data Center on the Planet' award, and pleased that HPE's Spaceborne Computer was the winner," said Frank Monticelli, Vice President at Quality Uptime Services.

The Spaceborne Computer was launched aboard the SpaceX CRS-12 (Dragon) rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in August of last year. It took over a month for Hewlett Packard's engineers to install, test, and commission the device that now operates on the International Space Station.

This was DCD's second year of awarding in the 'most' category. Last year's award celebrated 'the most beautiful' data center, an award given to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center which is housed in a medieval church. This year the award's sponsor was taken to the extreme.

"The Spaceborne Computer is a tribute to the achievements of the mission critical industry, as we move from earth-based data centers to ones orbiting our planet," stated Frank Monticelli, Vice President of Quality Uptime Services. "Understanding the effects of radiation, solar flares, and subatomic particles on computing will ultimately advance space travel."

The awards ceremony and gala took place in London, England on Thursday, December 6th. The DCD Global Awards is an industry awards ceremony designed to showcase the 'pioneering spirit and innovative thought behind the projects, people, and teams making this industry great.'
