Simulation Studios and Hogan Lovells Wins Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards

SAN FRANCISCO BAY, Calif., Dec. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Simulation Studios (SimStudios) has today announced its win, with Hogan Lovells, of this year's annual Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards. The companies' joint entry, "Global Leadership Development Program for New Equity Partners," garnered them the bronze medal in the "Best Advance in Leadership Simulation Tools" category. Their partnership marks the first time that a law firm successfully used and pioneered a SimStudios business simulation.

"We're excited to be recognized by and with our peers and fellow business colleagues with the prestigious Brandon Hall award," said Bill Hall, SimStudios founder and President of Learning and Strategy. "Our team worked very hard to pull this off, and I couldn't be more proud of how the whole thing came together."

SimStudios has been providing corporate development software and services to companies for more than a decade. Bill Hall gained his experience as founder and CEO working for high-level tech companies such as AOL, Apple, Skype, and Nortel. Over the years, he learned that great business strategies are useless without strong leadership skills and employee alignment to back them up. This led him to develop SimStudio's leadership development strategies to help executives and employees understand the what, why, and how of leadership. Since 2003, the company's small, simple simulation programs have been helping companies such as Hogan Lovells improve their corporate leadership strategies and get employees on board with the same vision.

The international law firm of Hogan Lovells has offices in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and the Middle East. The firm is the brainchild of its two parent companies: Hogan & Hartson in the US and Lovells in Europe. The two companies merged in 2010, making the joint venture one of the top ten legal service providers in the world.

SimStudios and Hogan Lovells' participation in the Brandon Hall awards came about through their creation of the Transition to Equity leadership development simulation. Their partnership marks the first known use by a law firm of business simulation tools typically reserved for fortune 500 companies. Already, the newly created program has had a transformative effect on equity partners around the globe, who credit it with improving their leadership skills and employee management.

"We're very excited to have partnered with SimStudios in creating a simulation specifically designed for equity partners," said Hogan Lovells Chief Learning Officer, Heather Bock. "It isn't every day that you have the opportunity to create something entirely new that has such a big impact."

Participants walked away from the experience with increased leadership skills and decision-making capabilities in preparation for their roles as equity partners. This put them ahead of the learning curve in these areas. Eighty-eight percent of those surveyed were confident that the experience would help them lead more effectively in their future careers.
