Sheba Medical Center's Executives Unveil the Future of Healthcare at Renowned Business Conference

JERUSALEM, Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Professor Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer and Dr. Nathalie Bloch, the director of the hospital's new ARC Innovation Center, revealed the future of patient healthcare at the Globes Business Conference, Israel's premier annual gathering of executives from the country's burgeoning business and financial communities.

Prof. Yitzhak Kreiss, CEO and Director General of Sheba, spoke to a crowd of hundreds as he anchored a panel on "The New Healthcare Challenges." Joining him on stage was Globes' moderator Hila Weissberg.

In his remarks, Prof. Kreiss claimed that the next round of "social protests" in Israel could emerge around the quality of healthcare in the country.

"We are at a critical juncture," Kreiss revealed to the audience. "If we don't start dealing with this matter seriously now, we won't have the luxury in a few years of discussing what can we do to improve things. We cannot continue down the same path we are on now, just by adding a doctor here or an extra bed there. The needs are much bigger, and we must change things now. At Sheba, we are in the midst of changing the healthcare ecosystem by championing innovation from within our hospital and through our new VC invest fund for start-ups. Our goal with the support of the government is to transform patient care via our City of Health concept. This emerging ecosystem will enable us to change healthcare not only at Sheba, but also around the globe."

Dr. Nathalie Bloch, Director of Sheba's ARC Innovation Center, also revealed her perspectives on critical healthcare issues along with AIDOC CEO Elad Walach, Senior Director of Digital Healthcare at Israel's Ministry of Health Esti Shelly and Prof. Ron Blitzer, Director of Clalit (HMO) Research Department.

Bloch said: "Healthcare is going to be more personalized based on a patient's genetics. As there will not be enough bed space for everyone, we will be working on all aspects of digital healthcare and big data, where we will have access to everything we need to know about patients. And AI - Artificial Intelligence will become an integral part of predicting and preventing diseases, keeping people healthier and being able to recuperate at home and not in the hospital. We are already working on these things at the ARC Innovation Center."
