School of PE Launches New ARE 5.0® Exam Prep Course To Help Architects Achieve Licensure

DUBLIN, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- School of PE is excited to announce the launching of its ARE 5.0® exam review course.

The ARE 5.0® exam is an architecture licensing examination that is developed and administered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

According to NCARB, "The Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) is a multi-division exam used to assess your knowledge and skills regarding the practice of architecture... the exam is accepted by all U.S. jurisdictions and is a key step on the path to earning a license."

The exam is divided into six different exams: Practice Management, Project Management, Programming & Analysis, Project Planning & Design, Project Development & Documentation, and Construction & Evaluation. All sections must be completed for licensure.

"Licensure is a public safeguard," Paul Spite, a registered architect, said.

School of PE, an exam review course provider, recognized the need for an ARE 5.0 exam prep course. According to the National Council Architectural Registration Boards, 7,657 individuals partook in the exam with an average pass rate of 54%.

"We have been helping engineers pass their licensure exams since 2004, and we felt that we could also do the same for architects," said School of PE's Program Director, Chris Miller. "Since the pass rate is barely above 50%, we felt that we can increase the overall pass rate by offering an exam prep course."

According to Spite, obtaining an architecture license has great impacts on an architect's career because it can push individuals to develop "experience in areas of practice in which they might not otherwise push to become involved."

"When you know the exam will cover areas of expertise in which you have no experience, you quickly seek opportunities to gain that experience... No one cannot possibly learn everything regarding building processes, materials, systems, etc. needed to safeguard owner interests, but a properly educated and trained architect should possess the greatest amount of such knowledge," Spite said.

Before this launch, School of PE only offered Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE), Structural Engineering (SE) and surveying review courses to help individuals prepare for engineering licensure exams. Now, School of PE can help individuals in other fields achieve licensure.

School of PE will offer courses for each of the six sections of the exam. Each division will be covered in 24 hours. Courses will begin on April 15, 2019.
