School of PE Prepares Students for New PE Environmental Exam Format
DUBLIN, Ohio, Jan. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) announced in 2011 it would be slowly converting exams to a Computer-Based format (CBT). This year, 2019, NCEES will convert the PE Environmental exam.
Before the CBT exam format was introduced, all NCEES examinations were distributed in a pencil and paper format. Most Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exams were only offered twice a year. The new CBT format will allow exam applicants to take the PE Environmental exam year-round.
School of PE offers exam prep courses for those preparing to take NCEES examinations. School of PE's management team and instructors work together to ensure that School of PE's review courses are structured to help students pass the new CBT format.
According to School of PE's Program Director Chris Miller, the PE Environmental course was updated at the beginning of 2018 when NCEES updated the syllabus for the exam.
Miller explained that although the exam format is changing, the syllabus hasn't changed since 2018. Due to the CBT format, examinees can only use the PE Environmental Handbook from NCEES during the exam.
"Our course is geared towards the new CBT format in the sense that our course materials reference page numbers from the NCEES PE Environmental Handbook, which is the only reference material students have access to during the exam," Miller said.
The PE Petroleum exam is also being converted to the CBT exam format, but it will only be offered once a year.
Although NCEES began the conversion process in 2011, there are still numerous exams that still need converted. According to NCEES, the organization is planning to convert the PE Fire Protection, PE Industrial and Systems, and PE Mechanical exams to the CBT format in 2020.
