Allies Against Slavery Launches Lighthouse, First-of-its-kind Software to Help Organizations Identify Victims of Sex Trafficking

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Allies Against Slavery today announced the launch of Lighthouse. Lighthouse is a cloud-based screening tool to help social service organizations and agencies more quickly and easily identify victims of sex trafficking. The tool is built from the ground up and based on years of experience identifying and preventing modern slavery.

"There are an estimated 79,000 children in Texas alone that are victims of sex trafficking," said John Nehme, president and CEO of Allies Against Slavery. "However, fewer than 2 percent of those victims are identified and helped. We created Lighthouse to help eradicate this heinous crime and give agencies and organizations that regularly work with children and young adults a powerful tool to quickly identify victims. Our hope is that by identifying victims, we can help break the cycle of slavery."

"The Lighthouse tool allowed us to identify more kids who would have slipped through the cracks," said Dawn Owens, assistant director, Bell County Juvenile Services. "Now we look at every single kid differently through a trauma-informed perspective."

Key Lighthouse features include:

    --  Cloud-based: Accessible from any Internet connected device at any time;
        no need to worry about upgrades or updates.

-- Simple to use: Easy-to-use interface is intuitive and designed to easily integrate with a caseworker's process.

-- Secure: Best-in-class security and encryption standards to ensure data is protected.

-- Data visualization: Data collected in real time is presented in a visual way to allow individuals to quickly absorb and assess insights and improve care coordination.

-- Scalable: Usable by teams of any size, no matter how big or small, to easily collaborate.

-- Survivor informed: Lighthouse intake questions are phrased in language that victims and providers know, making administration easy and approachable.

"We're excited about the potential Lighthouse represents to change individual lives for the better," added Nehme. "We want to do everything in our power to give victims the dignity, respect and protection they deserve."
