Dr. Leilei Shinohara Joins RoboSense as Vice President of R&D
SHENZHEN, China, Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- RoboSense, leader in LiDAR technology, announced today that Dr. Leilei Shinohara has joined RoboSense as Vice President of R&D. With more than a decade of experience developing LiDAR, Dr. Shinohara is one of the most accomplished experts in the field. He previously served as the lead of Valeo's SCALA(® )LiDAR project, the world's first automotive grade LiDAR. Dr. Shinohara brings RoboSense a wealth of experience to grow and develop automotive grade mass production of RoboSense's LiDAR products.
Prior to RoboSense, Dr. Shinohara was Technical Lead, Asia OEMs, Valeo, responsible for automotive LiDAR, safety, and sensors. He managed a team in six countries, responsible for developing systems, software, hardware, mechanics, testing/validation, and safety for the first automotive grade LiDAR product.

Dr. Shinohara graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology with a Bachelor Degree in System and Control Engineering and Masters in Mechanical and Control System Engineering. In 2008, he began PhD studies at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, receiving his PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2014. During six years of PhD studies, Shinohara focused on LiDAR and was involved in sensor projects, including optical sensors, optical quality measurement, Doppler LiDAR, and 3D MEMS autonomous micromirror LiDAR. Dr. Shinohara and team developed a LiDAR system which was acquired by a German Tier 1 company.
