AcceleratXR, Inc. Unveils New MMO Platform at Game Developer Conference

SAN FRANCISCO, March 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Wednesday, March 20th at the 2019 Game Developer Conference, technology startup AcceleratXR, Inc announced the immediate availability of their new massively multi-player online platform technology. AcceleratXR is designed to revolutionize the way online games are made and offer social interaction previously only available to a handful of large publishers. Jean-Philippe Steinmetz, CEO and founder, commented "If you want to build a multi-player game today you have very few options. Despite a handful of products from companies like Amazon and Microsoft being available there aren't any solutions today that offer really important features like player progression, questing and party systems." The result of this is that many developers are forced to develop their own solutions even if they have little to no experience. "With AcceleratXR teams of any size or experience level can build games like World of Warcraft or League of Legends in a matter of days instead of months and years" he said.

When asked what sets AcceleratXR apart from the rest of the competition the young CEO responded "We're the only solution available today that is completely open source, cross-platform and 100% focused on design systems and features." The team at AcceleratXR, having multiple decades of experience developing multi-player games for some of the largest franchises in the industry, decided early on it was important to provide an open source solution built upon existing technology standards. The team carefully designed their architecture to be easily approachable and fully extensible while maintaining a high level of performance and scale that the most successful games require.

The idea to build the platform first came to Jean-Philippe while working on the game PWND. "I was tasked with rebuilding our existing back-end system to be able to handle millions of active players per month. Due to our small team I spent weeks searching for a solution that would save us development time. I was disappointed that existing products could only save a month or two of total development time and would require significant compromise on the design and architecture of our game." When talking to some of his friends in the industry he found that they had similar experiences. Most developers are forced to develop these services from scratch and often take shortcuts just to meet a delivery date which often leads to many problems at launch. "The teams that can afford to build their own platform and infrastructure and do it right have a lot of engineers with a multi-year timeline to develop them. None of them are willing to share their technology because it's their secret sauce" he said. "We want to break down those barriers for the average developer."

"I'm particularly proud of our matchmaking system" Jean-Philippe continued. "Our matchmaking system has a one of a kind architecture that makes it possible for any number of players to be matched in seconds instead of minutes." Their solution doesn't use the typical bucket system, region or platform locking methods that are common to most games today. Instead the team at AcceleratXR devised a new search algorithm that processes each player's request simultaneously. When a match is found the system locks each player in the match at the exact same moment in order to guarantee the match can be made successfully. "This kind of massively parallel search algorithm can only be made possible with the power of the Cloud" he added.

AcceleratXR's new platform is still early in development. "We consider the current release to be an alpha. It's functional but it still has some bugs that we are working very hard to fix." When asked when the product will be ready for an official release Jean-Philippe said "sometime this summer." Meanwhile full source code to the new MMO platform is immediately available for download on their website acceleratxr.com.
