GroGuru Adds EvoNexus CEO Rory Moore to Its Board of Directors

SAN DIEGO, July 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GroGuru has added Rory Moore, CEO at EvoNexus, as in independent board of director's member. Rory comes from a multi-generational farming family, and made the move to tech early in his career as a co-founder of Peregrine Semiconductor. Peregrine achieved IPO status in 2012. Peregrine produces RF chips that reside in the majority of the world's smartphones, cellular base stations, as well as space systems such as the Mars Rover and Discovery. Rory is a serial entrepreneur and also founding CEO of Silicon Wave, a semiconductor company that launched the world's first Bluetooth chips. Silicon Wave became part of Qualcomm in an acquisition. Rory is also a co-founder of EvoNexus, Southern California's leading technology incubator.

"Rory has been a tremendous mentor and a stalwart supporter of GroGuru in his role as CEO of EvoNexus," said Patrick Henry, president and CEO at GroGuru. "Rory, through his background in entrepreneurship, Angel investing, and running the premier technology incubator in Southern California, has developed strong relationships within the venture industry and private investing community in Southern California and Silicon Valley. There are over 175 venture capital and corporate strategic investors that have invested in EvoNexus companies over the last nine years. This is the first company that Rory has joined as a board member while a company is still in incubation at EvoNexus."

"GroGuru is an exceptional start-up; experienced team of entrepreneurs, engineering excellence, wireless knowledge and agriculture industry insight, said Rory Moore, CEO at EvoNexus. "The company has identified a critical need of growers around the globe; real-time crop irrigation management and analytics. Their approach is both scalable and builds a platform to enable additional soil analysis beyond irrigation. I am looking forward as a Director of GroGuru to help them build an important new AgTech company."

Rory will be an invaluable part of the team to establish GroGuru as a key player in the precision agriculture market. Based on his farming upbringing and technology experience, he also brings other valued skills to the GroGuru board. Rory is a University of Michigan grad, and in his limited spare time he is a world class acrobatic airplane pilot. He also surfs and scuba dives.

GroGuru is a privately held company based in San Diego, CA that provides precision soil and irrigation monitoring systems to the commercial agriculture industry. GroGuru is focused on enabling farmers to increase crop yields while optimally use water, energy and other scarce resources in a sustainable way. GroGuru sells an innovative hardware-enabled subscription-based solution to farmers that enables optimal irrigation. GroGuru's 100 percent wireless underground system (WUGS) enables a permanent installation of soil sensors, even in annual field crops like corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton and sorghum, that have a destructive harvest. GroGuru's WUGS-based systems can be buried below the till depth and communicate through several feet of soil wirelessly, thus eliminating the need for the sensors to be annually installed and removed for seeding and harvesting, respectively, for these annual crops. GroGuru is a portfolio company at the EvoNexus technology incubator, the premier technology incubator in Southern California.
