Interventional Pain Management Experts to Discuss Multidisciplinary Approaches During Full Day Track at PAINWeek 2019

MONTCLAIR, N.J., July 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- At the full-day, September 3, Interventional Pain Management Track at PAINWeek in Las Vegas, a multidisciplinary pain management approach will be examined, helping healthcare professionals work together to provide a full range of services and treatments for patients suffering with chronic or acute pain. These minimally invasive techniques are designed to help patients return to their lives with less need for medication. PAINWeek will be at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas September 3-7.

The CEO-President of the Kansas Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Mayank Gupta, MD, commented that "PAINWeek is a unique pain conference with diverse curriculum focusing on multimodal pain management. Courses are designed to provide a perfect blend of many aspects of pain management. Attending PAINWeek is an opportunity to learn and incorporate evidence-based multidisciplinary pain management into your practice." Dr. Gupta will be presenting Neuromodulation for Advanced Practice Providers. The course "will cover evidence-based patient selection for neuromodulation and discuss the science behind neuromodulation and strategies to reduce opioid consumption. Learners will come away knowing more about initial patient work ups, how to identify pitfalls, and the best methods of managing complications and challenging cases."

Paul J. Christo, MD, MBA, commented, "There are a host of interventional procedures that can help relieve chronic pain. They range from epidural steroid injections, facet joint blocks and radiofrequency denervation, to sacroiliac joint injections, innovative procedures for knee pain, and expanding techniques applied to the spinal cord and spinal nerves such as spinal cord stimulation, and intrathecal therapies." Dr. Christo is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. "With the advent of the CDC Guideline, more primary care practitioners and patients are turning to nonopioid therapies for pain." During his course, Injections, Nerve Blocks, Pumps, and Spinal Cord Stimulation, he will be "delighted to highlight common procedures used for pain reduction, their evidence base, and a basic description of how each procedure is performed."

Additional courses and presenters in the Interventional Pain Management track: Spinal Stenosis: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, and Treatment, Sean Li, MD; Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine for Nonresolving Inflammation, Jay Joshi, MD; and Interventional Pain Management: Opioid Sparing Technologies, Dr. Li.
