Ytel CPaaS API Integrates Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Text-to-Speech Capabilities

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Aug. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ytel, a leading communications software company that helps businesses engage more customers across more communication channels, announced an integration with the Google Cloud Platform on the use of Cloud Text-to-Speech and Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) in its communications platform as-a-service (CPaaS) offerings. Ytel is developing new capabilities utilizing the Google Cloud Platform for interactive voice-response (IVR) systems and automated help assistants that incorporate DeepMind WaveNet voices that are near human quality. By improving the quality of Text-to-Speech (TTS) and combining this with SSML, businesses can more cost-effectively manage customer sales and support calls while improving the customer experience. High quality synthesized voices gives callers a sense of familiarity and improves the adoption of applications using TTS.

Ytel is one of the first CPaaS companies to adopt Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. These advanced capabilities enable businesses to accelerate time to market for new customer engagement applications. TTS, DeepMind WaveNet Voices & SSML, for example, enables developers to create smarter interactive voice applications by dynamically generating speech, rather than playing static, pre-recorded audio files. These capabilities enable businesses of all sizes to more cost-effectively handle inbound service and support calls.

"We are thrilled to be able to bring WaveNet and other synthetic voices of the Google Cloud Platform into our CPaaS. This will dramatically improve the quality of the voices offered to our clients to meet their personal or client engagement goals," states Matt Grofsky, Chief Technology Officer of Ytel. "We envision many new applications that can leverage the feature set of the Google AI and Machine Learning Platform. For example, consumers can expect to see new apps that will be able to take more advanced actions within CPaaS, such as Machine Learning-based workflows to drive conversations."

The Ytel communications solutions now support the more than 170 Google Cloud Text-to-Speech voices in over 60 languages and dialects. More than 80 of these voices are WaveNet generated, which according to Google, "mimics stress and intonation in speech by identifying tonal patterns" and "produces much more convincing voice snippets than previous speech generation models." Ytel's use of Google Text-to-Speech and SSML provides application developers with more choices and control over the synthesized speech output in their programmable voice applications. This includes the ability to control volume, pitch, rate, and pronunciation of the voices that interact with users.
