Sunverge Announces Creation of Advisory Board, Appointment of Technology and Energy Industry Experts

Newly appointed Sunverge Advisory Board members include:

John Seely Brown

Dr. John Seely Brown (JSB) was the Chief Scientist of Xerox Corporation until April 2002, as well as the director of the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) until June 2000. A master integrator and instigator of productive friction, JSB explores the whitespace between disciplines and builds bridges between disparate organizations and ideas. In his more than two decades as head of PARC, JSB transformed the organization into a truly multidisciplinary research center at the creative edge of applied technology and design, integrating social sciences and arts into the traditional physics and computer science research and expanding the role of corporate research to include topics such as the management of radical innovation, organizational learning and complex adaptive systems. JSB is currently a visiting scholar and adviser to the provost at the University of Southern California (USC), where he facilitates collaboration between the schools for communication and media and the Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). JSB is also currently the Independent Co-Chairman for Deloitte’s Center for the Edge, where he pursues research on institutional innovation and a reimagined work environment built on digital culture, ubiquitous computing, IoT, IA/AI and the need for constant learning and adaptability. He was also a co-founder of the Institute for Research on Learning (IRL). JSB is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Education and a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. He serves and has served on numerous private and public boards of directors, including Amazon (14 years), Corning and Varian and advisory boards for Li & Fung, Lirio, Telescent and Quantum Digital Solutions Corporation (QDSC). He has published well over a hundred papers in scientific journals and nine books. His most recent book is Design Unbound – Designing for Emergence in a White Water World with Ann Pendleton-Jullian. He has received 11 honorary doctorate degrees in four fields (science, design, public policy, humane letters) and a Ph.D (Computer and Communication Sciences) from the University of Michigan.

Paul De Martini

Paul De Martini is a leading expert on the business, policy and technology dimensions of a more distributed power system. His work draws upon a unique set of successful executive experiences in transforming utility operations, building successful competitive energy services firms and growing technology ventures. His extensive writings and consulting work have influenced industry transformation efforts in Australia, Canada and across the U.S.

Paul was previously the Chief Technology & Strategy Officer, Energy and Internet of Things at Cisco Systems and Vice President, Advanced Technology at Southern California Edison. Currently, he is a visiting scholar at Caltech and adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco. Paul holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and BS, Applied Economics from the University of San Francisco.

Kateri Callahan

Kateri Callahan brings more than 25 years of experience in policy advocacy, fundraising, coalition building and organizational management to her position as President of the Alliance to Save Energy. The Alliance, a premier non-government organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., has worked for nearly four decades to advance energy efficiency worldwide to achieve a healthier economy, a cleaner environment and greater energy security. Under Callahan’s leadership, the Alliance conducts policy, communications, research, education and market transformation initiatives in the U.S. and abroad. Callahan is a trusted source for credible information on energy efficiency and its role in addressing the environmental, economic and national security issues associated with the use of energy. Callahan is the principal spokesperson of the Alliance, appearing regularly before the Congress and the media, and addressing conferences and gatherings around the world and for four consecutive years (2013 – 2016) has been recognized as a “Top Lobbyist” by The Hill in its annual rankings.

In addition to her work leading the Alliance, Callahan serves as a “C3E Ambassador” - a group of 20 distinguished senior professionals who share an interest in broadening the recruitment, retention and advancement of highly qualified women in the field of clean energy. She also currently serves as a member of the Board of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy and the Green Building Initiative, as well as on the Advisory Boards of Duke’s Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment (EDGE) and the UC Davis Policy Institute for Energy, Environment and the Economy. Secretary of Energy Ernest J. Moniz appointed Callahan to serve as a member of the National Petroleum Council for the 2016-2017 membership term to represent the views of the environmental and other public interest organizations. This marks Callahan's second "tour of duty" on the National Petroleum Council having been appointed previously by then Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman.

Andrew Bright

Andrew Bright is currently Head of Corporate at ABB Power Grids and a key member of the management team of a sector-leading $10 billion annual revenue business. Andrew has over 12 years experience in strategy development, communication and implementation as well as mergers and acquisitions, technology and start-up scouting and digital transformation, primarily in the sustainable energy and transportation sectors. Other prior roles at ABB include Head of Technology for the world’s leading and largest provider of power plant automation systems. Previously, Andrew gained seven years experience working as a Principal Consultant in high-tech industries. Andrew is a regular speaker on the power sector and strategy methods at numerous forums and universities. For the last 2 years, Andrew has been based in the heart of the Silicon Valley and is well connected within the valley's disruptive clean energy technology start-up ecosystem. Andrew holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Oxford and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Neetika Sathe

Neetika Sathe is Vice President of the Alectra Green Energy & Technology Centre (GRE&T Centre), where she focuses on enabling Smart Cities, grid innovation and launching an energy tech accelerator in 2020. Through Neetika's direction, the GRE&T Centre is Alectra's latest step to be at the forefront of exciting industry changes to make energy innovations come to life by identifying, evaluating, developing and deploying emerging, green and customer-friendly energy solutions across Alectra's service territory. For 6 years before her appointment as VP, she led innovation projects in the energy industry at Alectra (formerly known as PowerStream). Previously, Neetika was Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan LEAF and Cross-Overs in Canada, responsible for sales and profitability for her portfolio, including the launch of the Nissan LEAF in Canada. Neetika Sathe serves on the board of several industry associations such as Electric Mobility Canada and serves as Chair of the Board of NSERC Energy Storage Technology (NEST) Network and Vice Chair of National Electricity Roundtable.
