MassMEDIC Welcomes The MedTech Conference Back To Boston

BOSTON, Sept. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MassMEDIC played an instrumental role in bringing The MedTech Conference powered by AdvaMed back to Boston for its annual conference, taking place next week, September 23 to 25 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC). The MedTech Conference had previously always taken place in Washington, D.C. When the organizers chose for the first time to take the conference "on the road" in 2012, they chose Boston. That meeting had the largest attendance of any previous MedTech Conference. MassMEDIC hopes we can beat that record in 2019 when the meeting returns to Boston next week and attendance of more than 3000 is expected.

"We're excited to have the MedTech Conference back in Boston. This meeting is a great opportunity for medical device companies of all sizes to make new connections, gain insights and network with future partners and collaborators. We look forward to facilitating introductions and helping the Boston MedTech community engage with attendees who have come to Boston from around the U.S., and from around the world," said Brian Johnson, President of MassMEDIC. "MassMEDIC is hosting the Massachusetts Pavilion with Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and MassBio. We encourage MassMEDIC members and the entire New England medtech community to stop by."

Brian Johnson will address the conference on Wednesday morning on the state of the Boston MedTech industry. Earlier this year, at the MassMEDIC annual Town Hall, it was reported in the Massachusetts MedTech Industry Report that the Commonwealth was leading the nation in several key indicators for the industry and continues to be a significant and vital industry for the state. Nearly one in four exports from Massachusetts is a medical device. In 2018, 23 percent of all Massachusetts exports were medical devices, a 7.7 percent increase over the previous year. The Commonwealth also ranks high in wages, PMAs and NIH funding as compared to other MedTech states including California, Minnesota and Florida.
