Leonardo DRS expands in Melbourne, Florida in response to growth
ARLINGTON, VA, September 16, 2019 ̶ Leonardo DRS announced today that its Land Electronics and Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems businesses have opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, Florida in response to its continued growth.
A ceremony on Monday highlighted the new facility and was attended by federal, local and company leaders.
“Our company, the Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems and the Land Electronics business have been seeing significant growth, and with the expanding mission-critical needs of our customers, this new state-of-the-art facility will modernize our business to ensure our customer is given the best support for years to come,” said John Baylouny, chief operating officer of Leonardo DRS.
“Melbourne has been our long-time home for these important businesses and we are proud to be able to build this new facility that will bring more jobs to the community while providing our customer with the advanced mission-critical systems.”
To accommodate the speed of growth, the new two-story building provides an additional 38,000 square-feet on the Melbourne campus and includes 18% more Engineering lab space and 30% more office space for engineers and staff. This added space is necessary to accommodate the growing demand for the expanding line of electronics systems and infrared technologies.
