United States Air Force Plans to "Aim High" Leveraging the Science of Neuroplasticity
MIAMI, Jan. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Pathwaves, a Miami-based digital therapeutics company, has been awarded a U.S. Air Force Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract through AFWERX and the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) to advance the development of the NeuroEmpowerment(TM) methodology.
Pathwaves has effectively established a tracked, evidence-based process that quantifies and improves cognitive mental and emotional function. The NeuroEmpowerment(TM) process is based on the science of neuroplasticity -- the brain and body's ability to build new neural pathways and synapses. The methodology is a unique combination of cutting-edge digital integration technology (neurotechnology), coaching and counseling, along with therapeutic mindfulness techniques that provide natural and sustainable results.
During the last decade, approximately 20% of U.S. Air Force personnel have annually been diagnosed with a mental health disorder (source January 2017 Deployment Health Clinical Center report).
