Jeff W. Rashall to Take Top Spot at Ref-Chem
HOUSTON, March 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeff W. Rashall, who has risen through the ranks of Ref-Chem since he started at the heavy industrial construction company in 1997, will take over for retiring Chief Executive Officer S C "Trey" Myers in April.
After partnering with Ref-Chem on several projects, Burns & McDonnell purchased the construction company in 2018, becoming part of its family of companies.
"As a 23-year veteran of Ref-Chem, Jeff has grown up there," says Ray Kowalik, president and CEO of Burns & McDonnell. "Our future is very bright with Jeff. And Trey was critical to our transition when we purchased Ref-Chem in 2018. A heartfelt congratulations goes out to both men."
Rashall began at Ref-Chem in 1997 as a project engineer. He progressed through a variety of positions with increasing responsibility. He was named vice president of construction in 2007, vice president of operations in 2013 and chief operating officer in 2015 before being named president in 2018.
"I've been passionate about construction and engineering from an early age," says Rashall. "My first summer job at Ref-Chem was operating a jackhammer. Now as part of the Burns & McDonnell family of companies, with a shared commitment to safety and customer service, I want to take Ref-Chem into new markets and continue our tradition of client success."
Burns & McDonnell/Ref-Chem are currently engaged on engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects in the oil and gas, chemicals, foods, energy generation and transmission and distribution markets. One project in the oil and gas market was recently completed nine weeks ahead of schedule and included more than 300,000 hours of construction without a recordable incident.
Myers began with Ref-Chem in 1991 and moved through the ranks of project manager, construction manager, vice president of construction, vice president of operations, chief operations officer and president before being named chief executive officer in 2011. He successfully guided the firm through its acquisition by Burns & McDonnell in 2018.
"I've had a great experience at Ref-Chem," Myers says. "When the question first arose, that if Ref-Chem was to continue to succeed after the acquisition, who should we be thinking about as the new lead, Jeff was the one to come to mind. He has shown his abilities to be far beyond our expectations in aligning our two companies and preparing Ref-Chem for future success."
