Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut Offering Free, Virtual Career Services During COVID-19

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., March 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- To support individuals who have recently lost employment or are seeking better opportunities, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut (GWNC) is pleased to offer virtual career counseling services during COVID-19.

"Empowering individuals who are facing barriers to employment is a critical part of our mission," Jeff Wieser, Interim President of Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut, said. "We realize that record numbers of individuals are facing unemployment at this time and we are here to support them with virtual career services."

Individuals seeking support with everything from updating their resume and crafting a cover letter to honing their interview skills can visit gwct.org/virtual-services to schedule an hour-long, one-on-one virtual session with one of GWNC's career coaches. During the session, individuals can get support with: 

    --  Crafting/updating their resume
    --  Writing cover letters
    --  Improving interview skills
    --  Building a job search strategy
    --  Building/updating a LinkedIn profile

"Our virtual career services are a great way for people to receive support in understanding next steps in their employment journey," Wieser said. "Our team is adept at helping clients navigate some of the most challenging situations and is proud to support those being affected in uncertain and very challenging times right now."

GWNC is currently booking appointments Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is a minimum of 91 slots open per day. Virtual career services are offered in both English and Spanish. In 2019, GWNC helped 2,585 people find employment in Connecticut.
