Serra Toyota gets customers ready to experience new 2020 Highlander models

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 30, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- No current automotive industry segment is as competitive as the crossover SUV class. Toyota was among the first manufacturers to enter the game by developing the three-row Highlander. For the new model year, the 2020 Toyota Highlander and its hybrid variant are available to continue the vehicles' dominance over the highly competitive class. The 2020 Highlander has been completely redesigned with new exterior elements and a whole host of new connectivity technologies. As good as the 2020 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid are, and continue to be, that hasn't stopped the competition from trying to take over the segment's top stop. Additionally, Serra Toyota has developed innovative ways to keep serving customers while state-mandated restrictions are in place to stem the spread of COVID-19.

The biggest change Toyota made to the gas-powered version of the 2020 Highlander includes streamlining the available engine options to only make a powerful 3.5-liter, V-6 available. It will be attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission and produce 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. For comparison, the segment's top rival for the 2020 Toyota Highlander uses a turbocharged, four-cylinder power plant that will make fewer than 190 horsepower. All versions of the 2020 Highlander will be able to tow 5,000 pounds, a significant difference over what the chief competitor can pull.

Many of the same advantages demonstrated by the standard version of the 2020 Highlander and its rival will extend to both vehicles' hybrid versions. The 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid will make more than 240 horsepower compared to 212 horsepower produced by its competitor. Additionally, the 2020 Highlander Hybrid will be able to tow up 3,500 pounds. Pulling trailers is not advised at all with the Toyota hybrid crossover SUV's direct rival.
