Council of College and Military Educators Holds Annual Conference in Philadelphia

CHANDLER, Ariz., April 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) held its annual Professional Development Symposium in Philadelphia last month. CCME's primary goal is to address the educational needs of the men and women who serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

At this year's event, representatives from the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as educational institutions like University of Maryland Global Campus, Thomas Edison State University, and Trident, served on multiple panels and led discussions centered around improving educational resources for members of the military.

The organization that would become CCME got its start in the 1970s, when a group of Education Services Officers (ESOs) met regularly to share ideas on how to best meet the needs of military personnel seeking a college education. Educational institutions who supported the military were soon brought into the fold.

Esmeralda Silva, Trident's VP of Strategic Alliances and Outreach Services, was recently named President of CCME's Executive Board for 2020-21. She has held leadership positions with CCME for the past four years, including Vice President.

"Trident has a long-standing commitment to serving the educational needs of past and present members of the military," states Esmeralda Silva. "Our continued involvement with CCME allows us to strengthen this commitment and expand the resources available to military students around the world."

Additionally, Travis Allen, Senior Vice President of Trident, spoke during the President's Panel during the Symposium's main session.
