National Cyber League and Cyber Skyline Announce Cybersecurity College Rankings based on Spring Season Participation

CHEVY CHASE, Md., May 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Cyber League (NCL), powered by Cyber Skyline, has announced its current competition leaderboard for its Spring Season, and California State University - Chico tops the list.

NCL is a biannual cybersecurity competition for high school and college students consisting of challenges to test and build their cyber skills. Students learn how to better identify hackers from forensic data, recover from ransomware attacks and break into vulnerable websites. Students compete and not only represent their schools, but also receive scouting reports of their performance to enhance their hiring potential.

The top three schools out of 455 institutions and 5,903 students for the NCL Spring Season are California State University - Chico, Tennessee Technological University and Dakota State University. The entire list of the Power Rankings can be found here: https://cyberskyline.com/data/power-ranking/.

NCL partners with Cyber Skyline to rank this immense group of competitors. Every year, more than 10,000 students from over 300 colleges and universities across the U.S. participate in NCL competitions. They are ranked based on team, individual and aggregate individual performances, which represents the abilities of these students to perform real-world cybersecurity tasks on the Cyber Skyline platform.

"I have been incorporating the NCL competition into my computer security curriculum for several years now. I have found that it adds dozens of hours of immensely valuable hands-on learning experiences. I introduce the students to the material, but the NCL provides the true training environment for students to hone and explore valuable computer security skills," said David Zeichick, NCL coach from California State University - Chico.

This summer, those interested in cybersecurity are invited to join NCL during it's free Summer Camp. Training sessions, puzzles, and coaching sessions will get players ready for the Fall Season.
