National Water Infrastructure Providing Financial Relief To Customers And Communities

BATON ROUGE, La., June 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- National Water Infrastructure, LLC (NWI) has issued an additional credit to cover a second month of sewer treatment charges as a part of an ongoing initiative to provide financial relief to its customer base amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As the largest private utility operator in Louisiana, the company has committed to covering the cost of operations for nearly 17,000 customers for two months, saving customers a combined $1.5 million.

"We're more than just a utility provider for the communities in which we operate - we're friends and neighbors first. NWI is committed to being a good community partner, investing time into addressing our customers' needs and leveraging our resources to address challenges together," said CEO of NWI, Tom Pertuit. "As we continue to navigate COVID-19 and the impacts it has on our community, covering two months of charges is just the first step in our commitment to serving our customers well beyond providing efficient and reliable utility services."

Following NWI's acquisition of Ascension Wastewater Treatment's sewage systems in April, the company has realigned its corporate values to further integrate measurable environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into all facets of its operations. NWI's business model combines local operations, services and personal relationships with community stakeholders with the resources, best practices and scale of a national company - bringing a unique and innovative approach to private utility system operations.

Over the past several months, the company has seamlessly integrated and transitioned 17,000 existing customers into its operating network, including instituting the two-month coverage plan. Additionally, the company donated thousands of protective face masks to Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, one of the largest hospitals in Ascension Parish, to aid in ongoing pandemic response efforts.

"As a result of the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent economic shutdown, many of our parish businesses and residents have fallen on hard times, leaving them to wonder how they're going to make ends meet," said President and CEO of the Ascension Chamber of Commerce Barker Dirmann. "This gesture by NWI means a great deal to the people of Ascension Parish and shows their commitment to our community and supporting our residents through this pandemic and into the future."

NWI's growth plans include expanding into other communities with environmental and infrastructure needs, driven by a commitment to build resiliency, improve utility service delivery and enhance quality of life.
