Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics Settles Lawsuit with II-VI Incorporated

Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc., an innovator and leader in ceramic materials, today announced that it has successfully settled its patent dispute with II-VI Incorporated related to large sheet sapphire, primarily used for defense and military applications. As part of that settlement, II-VI has agreed to license three patents from Saint-Gobain and dismiss its challenges to those patents with prejudice.

“The Saint-Gobain Group has been named a Derwent Top 100 Global Innovator by Clarivate Analytics for nine consecutive years in recognition of the quantity, quality and impact of its patents,” said Michael Cahill, Vice President, Saint-Gobain Crystals and NorPro. “We are proud of our leadership in the IP space and pleased to have reached a settlement with II-VI, which we believe highlights the strength of, and our commitment to, protecting IP.”

Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc. is a leader in producing cutting-edge crystals and ceramic components for a variety of particularly demanding markets, including the defense and military, security, aeronautical and aerospace industries.
