MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center Recognized with American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Gold Plus Awards for Heart Failure and Stroke Care

LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, as well as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The awards recognize Long Beach Medical Center's commitment to ensuring heart failure and stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence.

Long Beach Medical Center earned the awards by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure and stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and aggressive risk-reduction therapies. Before discharge, patients receive education on managing their overall health, get a follow-up visit scheduled, along with other care transition interventions.
