Price Comparison Site, SellCell.com, Releases Data Detailing how 33% of Americans trade-in their iPhone with Apple or their Carrier - Costing Them Hundreds of Dollars

CHICAGO, Oct. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The US's largest cell phone trade-in price comparison site, SellCell.com, has released a new cost comparison survey that details where users can get the most money for their old iPhone before they upgrade to an iPhone 12.

The SellCell analysis looked at the trade in prices for iPhones across Apple, Carriers, BestBuy, EcoATM and SellCell to determine where the user can get the most money for their old iPhone. As part of the research SellCell also surveyed 2,000 US iPhone users to see where they currently trade in their old iPhones when they upgrade and if this is really offering them the best deal when selling their old phone.

The iPhone 12 will Prompt a Surge in Upgrades

Research at SellCell.com suggests that more people than ever are looking to trade-in their old iPhone, with four-in-ten iPhone users and three-in-ten Android users also considering making the leap. But iPhone owners need to ensure that they are getting the best deal for their old iPhone and this can mean shopping around to find the best trade in price, rather than trading in with Apple or their carrier by default.

-----------------------------

Where do Americans Currently Trade in Their Old Phone?

SellCell.com surveyed 2,000 US iPhone owners to see what they would do with their old device when they upgrade.

After you upgrade, what would you do with your old phone?

Sell it on eBay - 21.9%
Trade it in with Apple - 17.9%
Trade it in with Carrier - 15%
Give it to a friend or family - 13%
Keep it as a backup device - 11%
Sell it online on a 'Sell Phone' website - 9%
Trade it in-store (retail store) - 6.1%
Sell it using trade in ATM machine - 4%
Give it to charity - 2.1%

-- 33% of respondents will sell their device to either Apple or their
Carrier. (18% sell their iPhone to Apple and 15% to their carrier.)
-- The data also suggests that 11% of users will be keeping their existing
iPhone as a back-up device. This means a user is potentially sitting on
hundreds of dollars that they could put towards upgrading.

Trading an iPhone via SellCell offers more money than Apple or any or the carriers. The iPhone 11 Pro Max is a good example. Apple is offering $500 for its most expensive existing handset. SellCell, on the other hand, offer $765 for an iPhone 11 Pro Max. That is $115 more than the best offer a user can get from a carrier and $265 more than Apple.

Comparing The Market Will Offer the Most Cash

Automatically trading an iPhone in with Apple or a carrier, means that users could lose out on a substantial amount of money. It is wise to compare the value of a phone with different buyback vendors. Using a comparison site like SellCell that compares over 35 buyback companies is a good starting point to make sure that the user sees a range of deals from BuyBack companies.
