Donation Drive Aims to Help Chicago Families & Children Have Safe Reliable Tech & Online Access
Alliant Credit Union & PC's for People event helps people safely donate technology to make a difference in their communities
What: This school year, roughly 1 in 5 children in the Chicago area lack reliable internet access at home, while 1 in 4 households lack basic tech, like laptops and desktop computers. Contrast this with many Chicago households hanging on to old technology, unsure of what to do with it due to privacy and safety concerns. Next week, the Alliant Credit Union Foundation is teaming up with PC's for People to help bridge the gap, giving Chicago area residents the opportunity to donate their old and no longer needed tech items safely and securely to help underserved Chicago families this school year. The devices will be refurbished to make a difference in households and communities. In addition to the tech donations, PC's for People also provides low-cost, high-speed internet, digital skills training, and tech support.
