Notice of Data Incident

San Francisco, CA - The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank ("SFMFB") announces a data incident that may have affected a limited number of individuals' information. On May 31, 2024, SFMFB learned of unauthorized access to its network. SFMFB immediately began working with third-party specialists to conduct an investigation. The investigation determined that certain information stored on SFMFB's network was accessed by an unauthorized party between May 10, 2024, and May 30, 2024. Therefore, SFMFB conducted a comprehensive review of the information potentially affected. The type of information varies by individual but may include name and one or more of the following data elements: Social Security number, driver's lisence/state ID number, taxpayer ID number, passport number, government ID number, financial account information, credit/debit card information, medical information, and health insurance information.

In an abundance of caution, SFMFB is offering potentially affected individuals access to credit monitoring and identity protection services. To obtain more information about this incident or enroll in these services, individuals should contact SFMFB's dedicated assistance line at 1-833-799-4195, Monday through Friday, from between 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM PT, excluding holidays. Individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing credit reports/account statements and explanation of benefits forms for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Individuals may also place a fraud alert or credit freeze by contacting the credit reporting agencies: TransUnion 1-800-680-7289; Experian 1-888-397-3742; Equifax 1-888-298-0045.
