NPower and Blue Star Families Partner to Empower Military Spouses

The partnership will expand pathways to free tech training, mentoring, and career placement services for military spouses in the Blue Star Families network

NEW YORK, April 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- NPower, a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding economic mobility through tech careers for young adults and military-connected individuals, is partnering with Blue Star Families to increase pathways into tech and tech-enabled careers for military spouses.

NPower aims for 30% of its graduates to be military-connected, with military spouses accounting for one-third of that group. The new collaboration will offer military spouses skills training in IT, cybersecurity, and cloud computing through NPower's Tech Fundamentals program, equipping them with important skills for today's most in-demand tech jobs. More specifically, participants in the program will have the opportunity to:

-- Earn industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+, IT
        Fundamentals+, and Google IT Support.
-- Gain real-life experience and enhance career prospects in the tech
sector by completing an IT Generalist Apprenticeship.
-- Receive job placement assistance, career coaching, resume support,
networking opportunities, mentoring, and direct connections to
        military-friendly employers.

Blue Star Families will provide community support, mentorship, networking, and advocacy to help military spouses achieve economic mobility through IT, cybersecurity, and cloud computing tech careers, aligning with both organizations' shared goal.

"We are thrilled to partner with Blue Star Families," said Bertina Ceccarelli, CEO, NPower. "By combining our expertise in tech training and job placement with Blue Star Families' advocacy and employer network, the partnership will maximize our organizations' shared goals of breaking employment barriers for military spouses, creating greater impact and reach in the community."

Military spouses often face employment instability due to frequent relocations, career gaps, and family responsibilities, making it challenging to build long-term careers. According to a Department of Defense study, military spouse unemployment rates remain four times higher than the national average. Charitable organizations like Craig Newmark Philanthropies, a supporter of NPower and Blue Star Families, emphasize the need to fund programs and initiatives dedicated to creating employment pathways for military-connected individuals, including spouses.

"Military spouses are an incredibly talented and resilient group, yet they face systemic employment challenges," said Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO and Co-Founder of Blue Star Families. "By working with NPower, we can provide them with access to skills that can lead to high-paying, flexible tech careers, ensuring financial security and professional growth."
