HANJIN HEAVY INDUSTRIES & CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD. manufactures container vessels, chemical tankers, oil tankers, bulk carriers, reefer vessels, and wood chip carriers. HANJIN was established in 1937 in Yeongdo, Busan, as the first shipbuilding company in Korea. It is well known as the cradle of the Korean mechanical industries and in 1962 it manufactured the first Korean lathe. It is also a pioneer of modern Korean constructions due to its completion of the first Korean steel-framed building in 1968. Hanjin is proud to hold many other records of being ‘the first in Korea’ in the field of heavy industries.
