Founded on June 29, 1951, SHENYANG AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY GROUP CO. LTD. (SAC) is one of the back-bone enterprises of AVIC Corporation. In the past half century, ever since its foundation it has designed and developed aircraft, such as the first China-made jet fighter aircraft F-5, the first China-made jet trainer aircraft FT-1, the first China-made supersonic jet fighter aircraft, F-6, the first China-made ground-to-air guided missile, Red Flag No.1, the first China-made F-7 fighter, the first high-altitude and high-speed F-8 fighter, the first China-made supersonic fighter trainer aircraft, FT-6, the first China-made FR-6 reconnaissance aircraft and the first China-made F-8 fighter, among others. The last 50 years have seen SAC building more than a dozen types of aircraft totalling several thousand dollars, thus making a great contribution to China's national defense sector.

SAC has made great efforts to develop non defense products by taking advantage of the aerospace technology and has resulted in more than 100 kinds of products, such as vehicles, light metal structures, large and medium-sized machinery equipment, electro-machinery and commercial aircraft parts and components, engaged in international cooperation with more than 20 foreign firms. Striving to become a renowned entity worldwide, the corporate organization has been shaped into a merger consisting of four divisions, the military, the non aerospace division, the commercial aircraft division, an R&D center and the tertiary industry division and since then SAC has been awarded with glorious titles, such as the "Outstanding Contribution to the Management of Chinese Enterprises", "Nationwide Advanced Enterprise in Terms of Quality Efficiency", "Nationwide Advanced Enterprise in Terms of Political and Ideological Work Among Employees", etc.
