ZapGo Wins 2017 Red Herring Europe Top 100 Company Award

ZapGo Ltd was selected as a winner of the 2017 Red Herring Europe Top 100 Company Award, a prestigious list honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the European business region. Red Herring announced the award winners on April 26 at the Red Herring Europe Forum in Amsterdam.

Stephen Voller, CEO and founder of ZapGo, said, “We are delighted to have been selected as a winner for the prestigious Red Herring Europe Top 100 Company Award. It provides us with additional validation surrounding our groundbreaking Carbon-Ion™ cell technology, which we believe represents a significant breakthrough in current energy storage methods for the European market and worldwide.”

“In 2017, selecting the top achievers was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “In fact, we had the toughest time in years because so many entrepreneurs had crossed significant milestones so early in the European tech ecosystem. But after much thought, rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across Europe to the Top 100 Winners. We believe ZapGo embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. ZapGo should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong.”

At the Red Herring Europe Forum, ZapGo discussed the benefits of the Zap&Go Carbon-Ion™ cell composed of carbon, aluminum and water-based aqueous materials—properties that are completely safe, recyclable and quick charging. Unlike Li-ion, which is a battery and works by an electrochemical reaction, the Zap&Go C-Ion cells can last through more charge/discharge cycles because there is no electrochemistry to wear out and be fully charged in under five minutes. As such, the Zap&Go Carbon-Ion™ cell has the potential to replace lithium-ion batteries in consumer applications and is scheduled to be embedded in several products on the market by the end of 2017.

Following ZapGo’s win, the company has been invited to showcase its technology to the U.S. market at the Red Herring Top 100 North America event in June 2017 and compete internationally for the Red Herring Top 100 Global Award in November 2017.

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the competing companies on quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technological innovation, management quality, overall business strategy and market penetration. This assessment was complemented by a review of the track records and standings of similar startups in the same verticals.
