Osram Showcases Smart, Connected Lighting Solutions at LIGHTFAIR

Osram, a leading global lighting and technology company, is demonstrating its latest innovations at Booth #1401 at LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) 2017, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference. With the sale of its general lighting lamps business complete, Osram is on track to become a leader in the high-tech world of digital lighting, including LED-based and smart technologies. LFI 2017 takes place May 9-11, 2017, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“New developments in LED and lasers, coupled with new technology enabling connectivity, provide Osram with the unique opportunity to expand our existing technology into new applications and services,” said Grant Wright, CEO of Osram’s Americas region. “We are developing technology and systems to not only meet our customers’ needs for dynamic, turn-key lighting solutions, but also to make everyday life safer, more secure and more efficient through smart building technology, sensors for smartphones including retinal scan and facial recognition, and much more.”

This year at LFI, Osram will showcase a range of technology, including:

  • SIMPLUX: This new standalone wireless lighting control system from Osram Digital Systems is designed for small- to mid-size commercial spaces. SIMPLUX enables specifiers to choose virtually any manufacturer’s luminaire and offers an easy upgrade path to more advanced features and functionality when required. It is a simple, code-compliant solution for a variety of room or multi-room applications including new, retrofit and multi-phase construction projects.
  • Cove Light AC DIM GII: This Traxon indoor fixture from Osram Lighting Solutions is designed to make it easier for lighting designers and architects to create more dynamic indirect illumination in retail and hospitality environments. The Cove Light AC DIM GII luminaires are a highly efficient indirect lighting solution available in both low- and high-output versions, and in a variety of color temperatures.
  • Oslon Square Hyper Red: This new horticulture LED provides growers with an additional opportunity to control each stage of plant growth for optimum results. For example, with a wavelength of 660 nm, the prototype of the Oslon Square Hyper Red can control the growth of blossom. Together with the deep blue and far-red versions, the Oslon family from Osram Opto Semiconductors perfectly covers the entire spectrum of wavelengths for optimized plant growth.
  • ODEON: This line of architectural lighting from Claypaky offers colors with 1,000 shades, high-precision optics, uniform light diffusion and sturdy, well-built units. This range of light was specifically designed for the architectural world, but with all the benefits of the best technological solutions used in the sophisticated entertainment industry.

The three pillars on which Osram is Reinventing Light and moving into the high-tech market are Specialty Lighting, Opto Semiconductors, and Lighting Solutions & Systems.

Osram’s Specialty Lighting business unit is a clear No. 1 in automotive lighting; and new light technologies, such as laser, support Osram’s position to transform into an LED system provider.

Opto Semiconductors has LED components for a variety of visible and invisible lighting applications – from automotive to horticultural and numerous other indoor and outdoor lighting applications, as well as invisible lighting, such as sensors in smartphones, autonomous cars and more.

The Lighting Solutions & Systems business unit engages a wide range of products to provide dynamic indoor and outdoor lighting solutions, as well as turn-key project management services, from concept through installation and service, providing customers with product-agnostic options tailored to meet each customer’s lighting needs. Its Digital Systems segment provides technology for the infrastructure that drives smart building applications, enabling specifiers and OEMs to develop digital ceilings, including luminaires that are smart, connected and autonomous. From lighting components such as LED power supplies and light engine modules to standalone and connected light management systems, Digital Systems solutions help unlock the growth opportunities of a new digital world.

With its smart and connected products and solutions, Osram is offering customized innovations, including digital products, services and solutions, as well as illumination. In addition to highlighting products from its Opto Semiconductor, Lighting Solutions and Digital Systems segments, Osram also will highlight products from Claypaky, which, as part of the Specialty Lighting business unit, focuses on entertainment and architectural lighting.
