Precision Metalforming Association Appoints Roy Hardy President

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) today announced that Roy Hardy has joined the organization as president, effective May 15, 2017. As president, Hardy will spearhead the association’s work including leading PMA’s 34-member staff; directing strategic planning, membership development and outreach; managing finances; and leading domestic and international advocacy efforts.

Hardy will take the helm at PMA after eight years as president of the Forging Industry Association (FIA). In this position, he represented some 200 member companies ranging in size from multi-billion-dollar, publicly traded corporations to small, privately held forging shops.

“We are thrilled to welcome Roy to PMA,” said PMA 2017 Chairman of the Board Dave Arndt. “He has a proven track record of leadership and a wealth of industry knowledge that will be a tremendous asset to PMA members, our staff and our board. Roy will build on recent years of solid growth and will lead PMA’s continued growth at this critical time for U.S. manufacturing.”

Hardy brings decades of experience to his new role. Prior to his tenure at FIA, he held several positions in industry groups as well as manufacturing companies. Specifically, he owned Spinworks LLC in Erie, PA, where he also served as vice president of sales. He is a metallurgist with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati; Hardy also holds an MBA from Cleveland State University.

Hardy succeeds Bill Gaskin, who is retiring at the end of the month after 40 years with the PMA staff, including the last 17 years as president.
