Maxwell Family Housing Receives Prestigious Historical Award

Maxwell Family Housing, a Hunt Military Community, is pleased to announce that it has received the Montgomery Historic Preservation Commission’s 2017 Historic Preservation Award. Maxwell won the award for its Senior Officer Quarters Restoration Pilot Project. The project, which began in 2016 by Maxwell Family Housing, restored 30 windows and 12 doors in homes that were built in the early 1930s. The project will increase energy efficiency, resident safety, and is key in Hunt’s continued effort to preserve historical integrity of the homes and the community.

We couldn’t be more excited to continue this restoration project which will only enhance our residents’ living experience at Maxwell Family Housing.”

The goals of the Historic Preservation Awards program are to encourage excellence in the planning, design, and execution of projects affecting the City’s historic resources and heritage and to raise greater public awareness and understanding of historic preservation efforts and their benefits to the City of Montgomery.

Nominees were judged on the following criteria:

  • Positive impact on historic resources in Montgomery
  • Overall quality of the work
  • Project’s ability to serve as an outstanding example for historic preservation
  • Project’s contribution to educating the public on Montgomery’s history and architectural resources
