College Choice Releases 2017 Ranking of the 25 Best Colleges in Virginia

EUGENE, Ore., May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- College Choice, a leading authority in college and university rankings and resources, has published a ranking of the 25 Best Colleges in Virginia for 2017.

The state of Virginia aims to become "the best-educated state by 2030." As their state government notes, of all the 11.5 million new jobs created since the Great Recession, 99 percent require more education than just a high school diploma. Going to college has never been more important. For prospective college students interested in Virginia, this list should help them narrow down their selection.

"In 2016, the state devoted $316 million to higher education," Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "This led to the lowest tuition increases in the past 15 years, which should help ensure that fewer students graduate with debt--and that those who do have a smaller, more manageable load."

College Choice developed its list by looking at academic quality, student body diversity, and return on investment--the differential between tuition costs and average early career earnings.

The ranking for the 25 Best Colleges in Virginia finds Washington and Lee University in the top spot. University of Virginia is in second, and University of Richmond rounds out the top three.

The entire ranking, listed in alphabetical order, is as follows:
