Epson Expands Moverio Smart Eyewear Line with Products for Multi-User Commercial Use and Industrial Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2017 - Heralding a new era of smart eyewear for business, Epson today announced two additional Moverio(®) products - the Epson Moverio BT-350 augmented reality (AR) smart glasses optimized for multi-user "fleet" environments such as remote assistance/support and B2B2C applications, and the Epson Moverio Pro BT-2200 smart headset for industrial applications.

Featuring the same seamless AR capabilities and HD image quality of the Moverio BT-300 platform, the Epson Moverio BT-350 offers an adjustable, secure fit for users of varying head sizes as well as a durable exterior to extend product life. The product's controller also connects to the world's first multi-unit docking station for smart glasses device management.

The Moverio Pro BT-2200 features all the internal specifications of the Moverio Pro BT-2000 smart headset for industrial and other enterprise AR applications but with a new hinge specifically designed to fit over front brim helmets. The hinge allows users to easily flip the smart glasses down over the eyes, or up and out of the way, while the Moverio Pro BT-2200 remains firmly attached to the helmet.

"Demonstrating Epson's ongoing leadership and commitment to the market, the Epson Moverio BT-350 are the first production-volume smart glasses designed for a busy, commercial environment where the glasses are shared by users," said Michael Leyva, product manager, Augmented Reality Solutions for Epson America. "We are also the first to offer an innovative docking station for easy smart glasses management."

The industrial design of the Epson Moverio BT-350 incorporates highly durable materials for indoor or outdoor settings. The unique extendable temples ensure a natural, comfortable fit for virtually any head size, and includes adjustable nose pads for users wearing prescription glasses. The Epson Moverio BT-350 design is perfect for a multi-unit fleet environment where smart glasses are shared by a variety of users, such as museums, city tours, amusement parks or other visitor attractions.

With a front-facing 5 mega pixel camera and WiFi connectivity, the Epson Moverio BT-350 smart glasses are particularly useful in providing real-time visibility to remote experts working with technicians installing, repairing or being trained on high-value capital equipment, especially in the medical, logistics and manufacturing fields.

The optional Quint Controller Dock connects up to five Moverio BT-350 controllers via USB to simultaneously charge devices, save and change content, install apps, check status and update the OS. The Controller Docks can be linked to three additional stations for managing a total of 20 controllers simultaneously. Robust device management software is included.

The Moverio BT-350 features all the internal specifications and key features of the Moverio BT-300, the lightest Si-OLED (organic light emitting diode) binocular see-though smart glasses available(1). The glasses platform is powered by a quad core Intel(®) Atom((TM)) X5 processor and Android 5.1, enabling efficient rendering of complex 3D AR experiences. The Si-OLED projection system allows for a seamless display experience, with virtually no display background or edges in the field of view.

The Moverio Pro BT-2200 smart headset is based on a rugged and durable platform built specifically for industrial use. The headset enables workers in various locations to see exactly what their counterparts are seeing to provide informed support and training. In addition, the Moverio Pro BT-2200 incorporates sensing and connectivity features that enable a wide range of cutting-edge augmented reality and other applications for manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, education and other fields.

Both the Epson Moverio BT-350 and Pro BT-2200 are scheduled for availability from Epson.com/Moverio and select resellers in June 2017. The Moverio BT-350 has an MSRP of $1,399 while the MSRP for the Moverio Pro BT-2200 is $2,999. The Quint Controller Dock for the Moverio BT-350 will also ship in June with an MSRP of $699. Additional Moverio BT-350 accessories such as flip-up style shades, nose pads, customizable neck straps, and more are also available.
