While people don't often talk about it, there is a ceiling for what you can accomplish with your SEO efforts. At some point, no matter how many adjustments you make, how much keyword research you perform, or how much additional key worded content you write, you simply can't rank any higher. How can you still meet growth demands for your business at that point? Today the NY based web design company, Lounge Lizard, shares insights to getting more web traffic after your SEO is optimized.
Interview people. Interviews are a great way to increase traffic to your site for a number of reasons. Not only are they a great source of video or written content, but they also help establishing your brand/business as more of an authority within your niche by association. The interview can be promoted by both your business and the interviewer, often earning additional links and mentions on social media accounts from both parties which helps drive more traffic to you both.
Look at related niches. Every business has related niches. Think of the products or services you provide and then make a list of things that relate in any manner possible. Next perform some basic research, much like you would when research key words for SEO, and find the niches on that list which appear to be underserved. Now the goal here isn't to suddenly jump into those niches with both feet, but instead create a page on your site that provides information, products, or services that those people could be interested in and dip your toe in the water. With an established website and brand already, you should be able to beat out small or newer players within those niches and create a growth opportunity in a related but underserved area. For example, if you sell hand-crafted knit hats and gloves and have reached your peak, but realize that there is a demand for high-quality wool that isn't being met then that is a related niche which you could slowly invade. Remember, Amazon used to just sell books online.
Connect with Social Media communities. There are a handful of social media platforms which have communities that businesses or business owners can become a part of. LinkedIn and Facebook quickly come to mind as well as Google+. Groups should be chosen selectively and posts should be crafted with thought towards the group itself. In some cases posts might be more casual, in others more professional in tone and content. Take the time to get to know the communities you join before posting and then focus on engagement within the group.
Dive deeper. If your business wants to grow sometimes you simply need to dive deeper to make current customers even more engaged and higher value. The key to diving deeper is finding a way to tap into enthusiasm people that use your products or services might have. In some cases this can be very easy. For example, if your business is selling boats then you could add an enthusiast section for fishermen that dives deeper into that subgroup. Create articles and videos (including interviews) about what types of boats are best for certain areas, types of fishing, size of group, and the like. By diving deeper not only can you gain more interest from current customers, but sometimes you can add new customers that love the subgroup but had never found your site before.
Start guest posting and host blogging. Guest posting is fairly self explanatory; you publish a blog on someone else's website. This can help drive traffic from that site's users towards your site via your byline and a page link (if allowed). On a similar note, host blogging is where you invite people to write a post for your site. This drives traffic because then you have an additional entity (the poster) promoting the content as well and we all know that 2 is greater than 1.
