ThriveRx Contributes to Resource Paper on Nutrition Support at School

CINCINNATI, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ThriveRx, the nutrition division of Diplomat Specialty Infusion Group, has contributed to a report in Nutrition in Clinical Practice, an official journal of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

"Resources for the Provision of Nutrition Support to Children in Educational Environments" explores the complex care needs of children on nutrition support as they grow and enter the educational setting.

"We couldn't be any prouder of our consumer advocates, Ann and Victoria, being a part of the collaborative specialty report with ASPEN," said Phil Rielly, Diplomat vice president and president of Diplomat Specialty Infusion Group. "This paper affirms what we've long believed: the importance of empowering those on home parenteral and enteral nutrition. We're excited to have had the opportunity to partner with ASPEN in creating a useful resource our consumers can rely on. We look forward to future collaboration to improve patient care."

The report aims to raise awareness and provide education resources for those involved in supervising and providing nutrition support for children at school.

"It was such a great experience working with consumer advocates at ThriveRx to develop this resource," said Peggi Guenter, senior director of clinical practice, quality, and advocacy at ASPEN. "Especially as children go back to school, it's important that they and their families feel well-prepared and supported as they integrate their nutrition needs with the classroom."

The paper outlines suggested roles and responsibilities for those involved with nutrition support care. However, all interventions and routine care must align with physician orders, school nurse privileges and competencies, and state and local regulations.

Co-authors include Mandy Corrigan, Shirley Huang, Ann Weaver, David Keeler, Katina Rahe, Jane Balint, Michelle Marti, Brandis Goodman, Traci Nagy, Victoria DeLano, and Betty Bond.
