MyTelemedicine CEO Selected for Elite Program Empowering Latino-Led Businesses

MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rey Colon, founder and CEO of MyTelemedicine, has been selected to participate in the upcoming fall cohort of the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI). The exclusive seven-week education program is offered through the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in collaboration with Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) to help propel up-and-coming Latino entrepreneurs to even greater success. The program includes strategies that speak directly to the unique challenges Latinos face in scaling their businesses, plus support through world-class mentors and connections to capital providers.

Since its introduction in 2015, the program has built an alumni base of almost 300 graduates whose businesses have combined annual gross revenues of more than $760 million. The immersive, customized course encompasses live webinars and online learning, and each cohort is limited to 80 participants, who must meet rigorous selection criteria: Applicants must have either generated $1 million in revenue or raised $500K in funding for their business.

"It is a tremendous privilege to be selected to the program and join together with other Latino entrepreneurs from across the country," says Colon, who launched MyTelemedicine in late 2015. The cloud-based telehealth service provider has since enrolled over half a million members nationwide and was named on the 2016 Entrepreneur Magazine 360 List as one of the most innovative companies in the healthcare space. Notes Colon of the SLEI program, "Learning how to take a business like ours to the next level will not only benefit our clients and employees but help strengthen America and the Latino community, as well."

As one of the nation's fastest growing telemedicine providers, MyTelemedicine specifically targets the needs of the Hispanic and Latino market across the U.S. Through its user-friendly Access a Doctor service, the MyTelemedicine platform provides families and individuals with direct access 24/7 to Spanish-speaking doctors and healthcare advocates.

LBAN aims to make America stronger by empowering Latino entrepreneurs to grow large, thriving businesses, with the ultimate goal of double the number of multi-million-dollar Latino-owned ventures by 2020. As a participant in the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, Colon says he looks forward to coming together with the best entrepreneurial minds in the Latino community to learn from outstanding professors, strategically innovate with think-tank mentors, and meet the needs of businesses and individuals even better in the years ahead.
