Togán Labs Joins New Frontiers Enterprise Development Programme
LIMERICK, Ireland, October 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
Togan Labs Ltd., a boutique consultancy based in Ireland and the UK, announced today that it has been accepted into the Limerick Institute of Technology's prestigious startup accelerator, the New Frontiers Enterprise Development Programme. As part of joining the LIT incubator, Togan Labs will move its corporate headquarters from Cork to Limerick to better facilitate collaboration with New Frontiers programme mentors who specialize in bringing products to market. They will also lend their expertise to other portfolio companies within LIT's co-located accelerators, such as the ACORN Research Centre which focuses on building companies in the energy, renewables, controls, monitoring, waste and water sectors.
"As a company dedicated to embedding ourselves in Ireland, we're looking forward to developing deep connections with both other high-potential startups and the wider Limerick entrepreneurial community," said Aoife FitzGibbon O'Riordan, COO and Co-Founder, Togan Labs. "As we approach the alpha release date for our flagship product, we are delighted to be partnering with some of the best minds in Ireland in business development and marketing to showcase and enhance our work."

Togan Labs' flagship product, Oryx Linux, is slated for alpha release in early November 2018. Interested parties are invited to learn more about its capabilities and view early access demonstrations of Togan Labs' full product line at the Embedded Linux Conference in Prague, Czech Republic, October 23-26, 2017.
"Oryx Linux is a new embedded Linux distribution from Togan Labs based on the work of OpenEmbedded and The Yocto Project. It follows best practices for embedded Linux and helps to achieve GPL compliance straight out of the box, without complex configuration options which must first be enabled," said Paul Barker, Co-Founder and Principal Engineer, Togan Labs. "Applications are fully containerised using runc (the lightweight container runtime at the the heart of the Docker project) to ensure security and isolation without sacrificing memory or performance. Oryx Linux achieves this without requiring existing embedded Linux developers to re-skill as all development, including creation of container images, is based on existing workflows inherited from the Yocto Project."
Building an Ethical Business
In addition to the strength of their product offering, Togan Labs was also invited to participate in the New Frontiers Enterprise Development Programme due to their commitment to ethical business practices. The company is particularly proud of its commitment to diversity in the workplace, with a Board of Directors comprised of 2/3 women within an industry that struggles to see even one woman on its board. Further, the overwhelming majority of its developers are women.
"We are not just another IoT startup, nor just another startup," said Elizabeth 'pidge' Flanagan, CEO/CTO and Co-Founder, Togan Labs. "Our core philosophy is built on the belief that we can work hard and well, keep roofs over our heads and that we can do it all while being responsible to our co-workers, customers and communities."
