Innovative Modular Manufacturer Enters California and Nevada Markets

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kasita, a 2017 AIA Design Award winning manufacturer of modular homes that are transforming the homebuilding industry, has received approvals to manufacture and sell its high-design, technology-integrated prefabricated modular homes in two new states.

Specifically, Kasita has been approved under the California Department of Housing and Community Development and the Nevada Manufactured Housing Division to build and sell its ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) in California and Nevada. Sales in both states will begin in early November.

Kasita has been hailed by Forbes as "the micro-housing start-up that's about to revolutionize real estate," and by Inc. Magazine as one of its 25 disruptors for 2017 for its affordable and sophisticated take on a small space. It triggered NPR to ask: "Could a tiny mobile studio solve your housing crisis?"

"This is a very important milestone for Kasita," says Martyn Hoffmann, Kasita's CEO, "State level certifications and approvals are a critical step as we roll-out both our ADU and density products in markets across the country. Manufactured spaces are held to a much higher standard than traditional stick-built construction, therefore every time we meet these standards it takes a burden off of our customers as they go through their own permitting process locally. What's great to see is each time we go through the approval process the team gets more and more efficient. As cycle-times shorten, we are already seeing multiple additional state approvals move rapidly toward completion."

Every Kasita is move-in ready and comes fully equipped with appliances and furniture, and features a fully integrated home automation system. The home automation system enables seamless control through voice and a mobile app, to provide the homeowner control over the entire living environment including lights, climate and sound.

The process of buying and building is simplified, too. Once a buyer or developer completes local permitting requirements and construction of the foundation and utilities, installation of a Kasita home can take as little as one day.

In addition to its ADU, Kasita offers other options, including stackable units designed for multi-family, and a disaster relief model meant to quickly step in and provide a high quality, affordable housing solution.

"Not much has really changed in the housing category in almost a century," says Hoffmann, "And we haven't seen much improved in the output or delivery. There are very few product categories that can say that. What we are doing, every single day at Kasita, is seeking to disrupt the construction and housing industry by developing a home in the form of a designed, intelligent product. Kasita is compact, intended to utilize and re-utilize every cubic inch, and is delivered with speed in a cost effective manner. The end result is the superior user-experience that the next generation of buyers and renters are looking for."
