2U EVP Named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in Education

LANHAM, Md., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU), a global leader in education technology, today announced its Executive Vice President of University Partnerships and Programs Andrew Hermalyn has been named to Forbes magazine's list of 30 Under 30 in Education - the definitive list of the world's most inspiring young innovators who are transforming the world. The list, which is now in its seventh year, is created by nominations from Forbes readers and a panel of visionaries who span across 20 different industries.

"Andrew has an uncanny ability to build incredibly strong and trusting relationships with leaders across academia," 2U CEO and Co-Founder Christopher "Chip" Paucek said. "His unyielding passion and his commitment to the way he approaches his job has been part of what gives our university partners the faith they need to make the transition to digital education. From 2U's founding intern to executive vice president, Andrew has developed into a dynamic, thoughtful leader dedicated to expanding access and opportunity in education."

Hermalyn's Forbes 30 Under 30 nomination came from the President of The University of Dayton Eric Spina.

"Andrew's instincts, abilities, and hard work are leading to earned graduate degrees and career advancement for thousands of students, stronger market positions and enhanced fiscal stability for a score of universities, and the growth into profitability of a highly promising edtech company," Spina said.

Hermalyn has held a wide range of increasingly senior roles since 2U's founding in 2008. As the company's first director of business development, he helped successfully negotiate some of 2U's earliest partnerships, including George Washington University, UC Berkeley and UNC Chapel Hill. Given his strong performance, Hermalyn was asked to lead Semester Online, a strategic pilot focused on undergraduate education. Hermalyn then went on to become general manager of 2U's relationship with Syracuse University. In 2016, Hermalyn was named executive vice president of strategic partnerships.

This year, in order to streamline 2U's approach to program growth with new and existing partners, a new role was created to promote Hermalyn: EVP of university partnerships and programs. In this position, Hermalyn leads a cross-functional team responsible for building new university relationships and expanding existing ones. He also oversees all program-related aspects of 2U's fast-growing partnership portfolio.
