NEW YORK, Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- E-J Electric Installation Co. (E-J Electric) is proud to accept the 2017 Public Service Award given by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and former Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chairman & CEO Tom Prendergast. This award highlights the outstanding work performed by the E-J Electrical team on the new, $4.45 billion Second Avenue Subway Expansion Project in Manhattan.
Lighting the Second Avenue Subway
E-J Electric provided services for all tunnel station lighting, communication conduits, power traction conductors, and high & low duct bank conduit systems. The project also included 13,200V substations and two 4,000kVA UPS.
E-J Electric fully coordinated and communicated with 32 subcontractors and 350 construction employees throughout the entirety of the project.

Located underneath Second Avenue, extending from the Q line north, the new Second Avenue subway serves approximately 176,000 passengers every day. Phase one of this subway consisted of three newly constructed stations and two miles of tunnel, signifying the first and only major expansion of the subway system in the last 50 years. The project also received recognition from Engineering News-Record as the "Best Project of 2017."
