SNC-Lavalin awarded Stockyard Hill Wind Farm contract

MONTREAL, Dec. 21, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the preferred contractor for the Stockyard Hill Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia by Goldwind Australia and has commenced early works.

SNC-Lavalin, in joint venture with WBHO Infrastructure Pty Ltd. (WBHO), will undertake the engineering design, procurement and construction of all electrical infrastructure on the project in addition to site-wide infrastructure civil works; access roads, hardstands, foundations, public road upgrades, and internal access roads.

The Stockyard Hill Wind Farm (SHWF), when completed, is expected to be the largest wind farm in the Southern Hemisphere generating approximately 530MW of clean energy. It will comprise 149 Goldwind 3.57MW wind turbines erected on 100m high steel towers. Located approximately 35km west of Ballarat in Victoria's central highlands, the SHWF will provide substantial environmental, community and economic benefits, with the potential to power more than 340,000 homes annually.

The electrical scope comprises 3 x 33/132kV collector substations, a 33kV switching station, full cable trenching and reticulation of approximately 130km of underground 33kV cable, 11km of 33kV overhead transmission line, protection and control, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and telecoms systems design, procurement and installation.
