Sherwood Ford Donates to Ava's Answer for Cancer
SHERWOOD PARK, Alberta, Jan. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Local dealership Sherwood Ford has donated $1,000 to a young girl's cancer research fundraiser entitled "Ava's Answer for Cancer". The fundraiser is partnering with the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation over in Edmonton to raise money for children's cancer research. Many of Ava's classmates have been coming up with different ways of helping and donating to Ava's fundraiser and once the team at Sherwood Ford learned about what Ava was doing, they knew they had to contribute.
Members of the Sherwood Ford team got together with members of the school to put together a special pep rally for Ava and all of her classmates. During the pep rally, David van der Leek of Sherwood Ford spoke with Ava and told her how his team had come to learn of her amazing fundraiser. With the help of one of Ava's classmates, David presented Ava with a cheque worth $1,000 for her fundraiser. The goal of Ava's Answer for Cancer was to raise $10,000 for cancer research by March and as of now, they have surpassed their goal. Donations will still be accepted and there is no amount too small to help towards cancer research.
Partnering with Ava, the Stollery Children's Hospital is the only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children, and young people in northern and central Alberta and they are also one of Canada's leaders in researching multiple different illnesses. Children are the faces of the future and the people at the Stollery Children's Hospital pride themselves in being one of the nation's leaders in keeping those faces smiling.
