SCBA Training Aid for Firefighters Invented

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- An inventor from Liverpool, N.Y., has developed the T.M.S., a training aid for use in conjunction with firefighter-oriented Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

"I was inspired to develop my invention due to personal experience in the fire department. Unfortunately, SCBAs can sometimes fail at the scene of a fire, which puts the firefighter at risk for injury. This training aid will help firefighters learn how to deal with this type of scenario," said the inventor.

The T.M.S. improves the overall level of safety and effectiveness of firefighters. It simulates various forms of SCBA failure during training exercises. This training aid provides a greater level of realism than other approaches. This will, in turn, enable trainees to more effectively learn and master techniques for dealing with SCBA failures. This will ultimately increase chances of survival in the field in the event of an SCBA failure.
