Dr. Stanek serves as a Physician and Founder of Northwest Medical Rehabilitation, which specializes in medical rehabilitation services. Amassing over twenty years of experience in the field of Medicine, Dr. Stanek is a distinguished professional in the industry. Throughout her career, Dr. Stanek has attained extensive expertise in the areas of neurological physical medicine, brain injury, inpatient rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, pulmonary/ventilator, pediatric and adult cerebral palsy, stroke diagnosis and complex spasticity management.
Additionally, Dr. Stanek serves as the Medical Director of the Spokane Hyperbaric Center.
This center is a freestanding hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic equipped to treat over 65 medical conditions. Dr. Stanek states, "Hyperbaric treatments are very beneficial for any hypoxic brain injury, non-healing wounds, autism and many other neurological disorders."

Prior to assuming her current roles, Dr. Stanek served as Medical Director of Deaconess Rehabilitation Center from 1993 to 1994, and was instrumental in the merger between Deaconess Rehabilitation Center and Providence Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Unit to form St. Luke's Rehabilitation Institute. She then founded Northwest Medical Rehabilitation in 1996.
Before getting into medicine, Dr. Stanek completed a Masters degree and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin. After serving as a research fellow under Dr. Arthur Guyton from 1979 to 1984, he encouraged her to enter medical school. Soon after, Dr. Stanek went on to earn her Medical degree from the University of Mississippi Sciences Center. She completed her Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado, and studied Business Administration and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. Additionally, she is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
To further her professional development, Dr. Stanek is an affiliate of several organizations including American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, Association of Academic Physiatrists, Medical Women's Association, American Medical Association, American Physiological Society, Northwest Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Spokane County Medical Society, Washington State Medical Association, The Brain Injury Association of Washington, and the Idaho State Medical Association.
In recognition of her professional accolades, Dr. Stanek was the recipient of the Best Doctor List Spokane from 2006-2008, and 2011, was recognized by Two Thousand Notable American Women in 1994, Outstanding Young Women of America in 1985, and the recipient of Who's Who in Research and Technology.
When not working, she volunteers her time to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, and enjoys fishing, hiking and gardening.
