LafargeHolcim Partners with PaYS Program to Provide Opportunities to U.S. Veterans

LafargeHolcim today announced its partnership with the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program to provide opportunities to veterans in the American workforce after their service. The partnership is part of a recruitment option allowing students to simultaneously serve and prepare for their future.

“LafargeHolcim is grateful for our veterans’ service and proud to join this program,” said Denise Devereaux, vice president, Organization and Human Resources for LafargeHolcim in the US. “Our talented workforce is made stronger with our veteran employees. A workforce recruiting pathway focused on military veterans is a natural fit for our business due to the skills and values that align with LafargeHolcim, including teamwork, performance, accountability and a focus on health and safety.”

The program allows LafargeHolcim employees to work alongside Army recruiters and ROTC programs in grassroot initiatives to mentor future soldiers and professionals. PaYS partners guarantee job interviews and possible employment to future soldiers and ROTC cadets after their time in the Army. The organization also works with individuals on resume improvements, interview advice and building strong qualifications. While serving, soldiers learn technical skills that can be translated to many industries, including within the building materials industry.

"I want to personally thank the LafargeHolcim company for partnering with the U.S. Army and the PaYS program,” said Lt. Col. Derek R. Keller, U.S. Army. “This partnership will contribute to helping take care of today's heroes, the American Soldier, after they serve this great country of ours."

The PaYS program supports the Army’s mission to recruit high quality men and women while offering an opportunity to prepare for their future after service. Soldiers who participate in the program gain valuable experiences and skills that prepare them for their future careers. In addition, participants gain opportunities with employers who understand the value of military service in the workforce.

LafargeHolcim is committed to diversity and inclusion, and employs hundreds of military veterans across the United States. In 2018, the company will launch a Buddy-to-Buddy program for newly hired veterans, as well as a Manager’s Guide to help build and sustain a veteran-informed culture.
