Fifth annual contest encourages Kiwanis members to build playgrounds to build community

DELANO, Minn., April 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Landscape Structures Inc., a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, together with Kiwanis International, a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to serving the children of the world, has launched the fifth annual Legacy of Play Contest. The contest, hosted on Facebook, will help a deserving Kiwanis club bring a playground to its community.

The winning Kiwanis club will receive $25,000 in playground equipment to be used toward a playground project. The contest is open to all Kiwanis clubs that are currently working on a playground project, and that can complete the project by Kiwanis One Day 2019, Kiwanis International's signature day of service during which clubs around the world participate in service projects benefiting their local communities.

Qualified contestants may enter the contest at facebook.com/Kiwanis by completing the entry form. Entries will be accepted April 12- May 12, 2018. Following the submission period, Facebook users will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite project. The winner of the contest will be announced on or around June 14, 2018. "We are excited that our partnership with Landscape Structures has enabled us to help Kiwanis clubs enhance their communities with playgrounds," said Pam Norman, senior director of corporate partnerships at Kiwanis International. "Playgrounds help build community, and we are proud to be able to assist our clubs in bringing to their communities play opportunities that welcome children of all abilities."

"The Legacy of Play Contest has allowed us to assist four different Kiwanis clubs in bringing play and playgrounds to their communities, and are excited to extend that honor to another Kiwanis club for the contest's fifth anniversary year," said Pat Faust, president of Landscape Structures. "We are committed to helping Kiwanis clubs build community gathering spaces where children and entire families can come together to play, have fun and relax."

The Kiwanis Club of Mankato won the contest in 2017 and plans to cut the ribbon on its all inclusive playground this summer. In collaboration with the City of North Mankato and many local organizations, community members and business owners, the Kiwanis Club of Mankato will create an all-inclusive playground where children and families of all abilities can develop, discover, laugh and experience the joy of play.
