SNC-Lavalin, part of the NouvLR General Partnership, has finalized the Contract Agreement Relating to the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Réseau express métropolitain

MONTREAL, April 12, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that NouvLR General Partnership, whose partners consist of SNC-Lavalin, Dragados Canada, Inc., Groupe Aecon Québec Ltée, Pomerleau Inc. and EBC Inc., has reached contract close on the Réseau express métropolitain project.

Today, NouvLR General Partnership, of which SNC-Lavalin is a twenty-four percent (24%) partner, finalized an agreement with Projet REM S.E.C., an affiliate of CDPQ Infra Inc., for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Réseau express métropolitain project. On April 12, 2018 NouvLR entered into a fixed price contract worth approximately five billion dollars ($5B).

The Réseau express métropolitain is an electric and fully automated light rail transit network designed to facilitate mobility across the Greater Montreal Region. Spanning 67 kilometres of double track and boasting 26 stations, it will link the South Shore, North Shore, West Island, downtown Montreal, and the Pierre-Elliot Trudeau Airport. It will also connect with existing bus networks, commuter trains and with the Montréal metro Blue, Green and Orange lines. Stations will be accessible by foot, bike, cars and taxis, integrate universal mobility options, connect to bus stations and park and ride lots, and will offer passengers a variety of travel options between home and the station.

"We are thrilled to have this opportunity to bring to the Greater Montreal area our well-established experience in designing and building, as well as operating and maintaining light-rail systems," said Ian L. Edwards, President, Infrastructure, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "The combined knowledge and expertise of SNC-Lavalin and Atkins greatly contributed to delivering an optimized design for an efficient and integrated new transit system that will benefit generations to come."

"The REM project is meaningful to us as it is a continuation of our involvement in providing strong, knowledgeable, experienced designers and engineers who contribute to the region's development.," said Neil Bruce, President and Chief Executive Officer, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "It is an opportunity to share with the region our digital design and state of the art project management systems that we've used on other similar light rail transit (LRT) projects to enhance our engineering and construction performance and offer a value-added outcome for the end-users. "

Under the leadership of NouvLR General Partnership, the Lemay Perkins + Will Bisson Fortin Architectes consortium developed the Charter of Infrastructure Design and Urban Integration that will facilitate the network's integration with a wide variety of neighbourhoods, reflecting each site's unique persona. A first in Canada, this was accomplished by pooling the knowledge and experience of seasoned professionals from various disciplines such as architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, graphic design, engineering and construction.

The Réseau express métropolitain is the newest of long series of signature LRT infrastructure projects in which SNC-Lavalin has been involved in Canada, which include the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project, Confederation Line project, the Evergreen Line and the Canada Line.
